The Artist. The voice. The journey.
Italian singer • International performer
Federico Martello is an Italian singer and songwriter, an international performer, able to blend vocal intensity, stage elegance and a strong artistic identity.
His journey spans television, festivals and international events, bringing to the stage a voice that speaks of emotion, authenticity and inclusion.

THE ORIGINS OF A VOICE
From Sicily to training in pop, jazz and opera singing.
Born in Partinico, in Sicily, Federico discovers very early in music a natural space for expression. His passion for singing stays with him through his growing years and, with the move to Siena, it gradually turns into a true path of artistic training.
He studies modern singing and jazz improvisation at the Diapason Academy, later deepening vocal technique also in Milan through Luca Jurman’s Vocal Classes.
Alongside his pop training he adds experiences in opera singing, in jazz and in soul, building over time a personal vocal style able to move across very different musical languages.
It is precisely from the meeting of technique, instinct and musical cross-pollination that his identity as a baritenor takes shape: an intense and versatile voice that will become the hallmark of his artistic journey.
THE FIRST STAGES

From the first competitions to television and international experiences.
The first live performances and music contests mark the starting point of Federico’s artistic path. Over time, the experience grows to include TV stages, where voice, stage presence and interpretive intensity begin to shape his identity.
This phase marks the birth of a personal style, able to blend elegance, emotion and versatility, foreshadowing the later national and international experiences.

A NEW WAY TO BE ON STAGE
A forced break. A technique to rebuild. The return to the stage.
In July 2012, just as Federico’s artistic path was taking on an increasingly international dimension, a serious injury worsened his disability and forced him to stop performing live, also cancelling engagements already scheduled in the United States and Russia.
A period of over four years away from the stage followed. To sing again, Federico had to deeply rethink his relationship with breathing, posture and vocal technique, building a new stage presence in a wheelchair. His return to the stage was therefore not a simple comeback, but the start of a new way of living and interpreting performance.
In 2016 the journey restarted from an international stage: in Moscow Federico won the Grand Prix of the Pirogovsky Rassvet International Song Festival. It was the beginning of a new phase of his career, which in the following years would bring him steadily back onto the international scene.

After returning to the stage, the journey resumes. And this time it takes Federico even farther.
Between 2017 and 2021 his voice crosses countries, languages and TV screens, moving from Gibraltar to Siberia, from Italian prime time to the studios of Russia 1, all the way to the international win of Road to Yalta.
It’s not just a string of festivals and awards. It’s the period in which Federico builds a truly international artistic dimension, engaging with very different audiences and discovering in music a language able to overcome cultural, linguistic and physical borders.

I
An Italian song on the international podium
At the Gibraltar International Song Festival, Federico brings Non esiste il destino, one of the most representative songs of his artistic journey.
The song wins the Third Prize, marking a new step in his return to major international festivals.
It is also the start of a new phase: no longer only interpreting great repertoires, but also taking abroad his own musical identity.

Thousands of kilometers to meet another culture
In March 2019 Federico reaches Ulan-Ude, capital of Buryatia, in Siberia, to take part in the international festival Белый месяц — White Month.
Here he receives the Star of Buryatia award and recognition from the local press and television.
But the experience goes beyond the prize. Federico chooses to step into the local culture also through music, performing “Sagaan Dali” and creating a bond with an audience extremely far, geographically and culturally, from Italy.
His participation gains wide attention in the region’s media and is also covered by Russian television.

I
The voice reaches the wider Italian audience
In December 2019 Federico joins the cast of the second season of All Together Now, in prime time on Canale 5.
At his first performance he wins over 99 judges out of 100.
Then comes Meraviglioso: 97 points and a place in the final.
For Federico it’s a major turning point. After years spent on international stages, his voice finally reaches a much wider TV audience in Italy too.
And on stage he also brings with him a clear message: the presence of an artist with a disability on television shouldn’t be something exceptional, but simply part of normality.

I
From Italian television to Russian television.
A few months later, a new challenge arrives.
Federico is chosen for Ну-ка, все вместе! — Nu-ka Vse Vmeste, the Russian version of All Together Now, broadcast on the national network Russia 1.
In front of the gigantic wall of one hundred judges, he once again faces an audience, a language, and a completely new TV system.
He makes it to the final, among the season’s top five.
Taking part on Russia 1 marks one of the most significant moments of these years: Federico is no longer just an Italian artist invited to an international festival, but a singer able to step in as a leading figure even in a major foreign TV format.

Italy on the top step.
The journey that began four years earlier in Gibraltar reaches, in 2021, one of its most important results.
Federico represents Italy at the Road to Yalta International Music Festival, a competition bringing together artists from 15 nations.
In the final on May 1, 2021, he wins the First Prize.
It is a victory that ideally closes a journey that began with a return to the international scene: Gibraltar, Siberia, Italian television, Russia 1, and finally a new great international stage.
Five very different stops, united by the same thing:
a voice able to feel at home wherever there is a stage.

BEYOND MUSIC
Art, representation, inclusion
There are stages meant to make yourself heard.
And others from which you can try to make something greater than yourself be heard.
Over the years music has taken Federico through different countries, languages and cultures. But his artistic journey has also shown him how a barrier can arise even before it becomes physical:
in the gaze, in expectations, in the idea of what a person can or cannot do.
From here comes an increasingly important part of his story: using music, imagery and the opportunities met along the way to help build a culture in which talent, accessibility and participation are not exceptions to celebrate, but normal possibilities to guarantee.

On November 19 and 20, 2022 Federico takes the stage at the Tokyo Garden Theater for the True Colors Festival – The Concert 2022, an international project promoted by the Nippon Foundation.
Over 90 performers from 12 countries, including singers, musicians and dancers with different backgrounds and abilities, share the same great stage.

Special guest for the two evenings is Katy Perry.
For Federico, however, Tokyo stands for something that goes beyond the scale of a major international event.
Here there is no need to explain why a singer in a wheelchair is on that stage.
He is there because he is an artist.
And perhaps this is one of the most authentic forms of inclusion: when diversity stops being something to justify or highlight and becomes simply part of the scene.

In 2021 Federico is appointed Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, on the proposal of the President of the Council of Ministers.
The honour comes at a particularly meaningful moment in his international journey and brings together two now inseparable sides of his story: the results achieved through music and the commitment to promote overcoming physical and cultural barriers.
It is therefore not only recognition of an artistic career.
It is also recognition of the public value that, over time, a personal journey has taken on: showing through facts that a disability can change the way you face a path, but not decide in advance where that path must end.

Inclusion doesn’t belong to just one stage.
Over the years Federico brings his experience also into sport, acting and fashion, entering very different settings without giving up his artistic identity.

In 2020 Federico is chosen as Giro Handbike ambassador, a role he continues in the 2021 edition as well.
Alongside paracycling athletes, he becomes part of a project where competition, independence and passion tell disability from a completely different perspective: not through what is missing, but through what a person chooses to do.
A natural meeting between worlds that seem far apart.
Because in sport, as in music, the point is not to prove you can be “like everyone else”.
It is being fully yourself.

With the second season of Canonico, an original TV2000 production directed by Peppe Toia and starring Michele La Ginestra, Federico faces the experience of acting for the first time too.
The series tells the everyday life of a community, tackling themes such as diversity, caregivers, relationships and architectural barriers.
Federico’s presence thus takes on a special meaning: once again, the portrayal of disability enters a story meant for a wide audience, this time through a language different from music.
And music and acting end up meeting too: “Non esiste il destino” is chosen as the soundtrack of the second episode of the second series.
A song that had already accompanied an important part of Federico’s artistic story thus enters a new form of storytelling.

In 2023 another creative language meets music.
During Milan Fashion Week FW23, Federico performs live for Global Fashion Collective, accompanying with his own voice the runway show of Japanese designer Keiko Voltaire.
Fashion, light, movement and music become part of the same performance.
Voltaire’s collection, making its debut at Milan Fashion Week, brings to the runway a meeting of design, dance and technology through creations also marked by the use of light.
In this context Federico’s presence is not a parenthesis dedicated to disability.
It is part of the show.
And it is precisely this normality that makes the experience meaningful: inclusion not as the theme of the runway, but as the reality of the runway itself.

Representation matters. But some barriers also need to be removed in practice.
Federico is PEBA Onlus Accessibility Ambassador, an organization committed to raising awareness and collecting resources aimed at breaking down architectural and cultural barriers.
Music and live entertainment become tools to meet the public, engage institutions and companies, and turn attention to accessibility into real action.
Through events such as Music & Comedy for PEBA, music and comedy artists contribute to awareness and fundraising for accessibility projects.
In 2023 Federico also takes part in the social communication campaign created by PEBA Onlus and ASSA ABLOY for the Fuorisalone of Milan Design Week, bringing the topic of barriers into the very place where spaces are imagined and designed.

Since December 2023 the journey returns to take on an international dimension with The Hope Giver Campaign, an initiative dedicated to spreading stories and testimonies of hope, solidarity and change.
Federico takes part in the Closing Ceremony in 2023, 2024 and 2025 in Cairo as Ambassador of Hope, broadcast by the main Arab TV networks.
Music thus becomes once again the meeting point between people, cultures and different stories.
On stage Federico performs his own repertoire and joins collaborations with Egyptian artists, bringing into a new international setting what over the years has become the common thread of his path: using art not to hide differences, but to create a space where they can coexist.
From Italy to Japan, from sport to television, from fashion to the Middle East, the languages change, but the principle stays the same.
The possibility of being there.

Federico still considers himself first and foremost a singer.
Disability is not a music genre, it is not an artistic label and it should not be the criterion by which we measure the value of what happens on a stage, in front of a camera, on a runway or in sport.
But when a voice manages to reach someone, that voice can also choose what to say.
That’s why, alongside music, there remains a commitment to a society in which accessibility is not a concession, talent doesn’t have to overcome prejudice even before it can be heard, and every person can have the chance to take part.
